If you are unfamiliar with Cairns, this is a good route to use. Turning left off RWY 15 and tracking via the coast, you may encounter significant turbulence associated with the south-easterly stream below 2000ft in the lee of False Cape.
Once you have rounded False Cape, you can continue coastal around Cape Grafton for a very scenic route or, alternatively, make a right turn after False Cape and track south-east over the township of Yarrabah.
Track across Mission Bay towards Yarrabah (visible on shoreline at top centre of photo).
From Yarrabah, continue tracking south-east through the valley that leads to the coast between the settlement of Oombunghi and Deception Point, both marked on your VTC. Continue coastal southbound.
Southbound from Yarrabah keep in mind that you are flying through designated training areas, (Danger Areas D769A and B and then further down the coast, D771C and D) so there may be considerable aircraft traffic operating on random tracks.
