Obtain your clearance from Alice Tower on 118.3 and depart as per ATC instructions. VFR Route 7 is a logical route to choose for departures to Ayers Rock. After departure, track 239 deg to the Gaol Water Tower.
En route to the prison, you will be able to see the scattered buildings of the Brewer Industrial Estate, out to your left, on the Central Australian Railway line, and marked on your VTC.
Once you have turned onto track, you will be able to see the Gaol Water Tower soon after take-off.

The water tower is located on the north-eastern corner of an easily identified large prison on the western side of the Stuart Highway. From the prison, take up a track of 241 degrees.
As you track south-west, you will be able to see the Pine Gap facility in the distance on your right, restricted area R215.
Continue following Route 7 out to the VFR approach point of Lawrence Gorge, easy to identify as a prominent gorge where the Hugh River cuts through the Waterhouse Range.
Once clear of controlled airspace, monitor Melbourne Centre on 119.8.
