Alt: As cleared by ATC
S 34 02.4 E 150 41.2
Departure procedures are the same as fixed-wing. Once cleared for take-off, helicopters depart from the helipad, climb to a height of 500ft AGL and turn right or left, depending on which runway is in use, before departing on climb on the required leg of the circuit. Remain at 1300ft until clear of the Camden CTR.
A unique procedure at Camden: If you are departing, for example, upwind off RWY 24 for a track to the south, you would normally climb to 1300ft until leaving class D airspace then continue climbing as required. However, you can request to ‘depart on climb’. If ATC can accommodate this, they will allow you to climb up to the base of the overlying class C airspace, without the need to remain at 1300ft until clear of the Camden CTR.
All aircraft departing into class G airspace are to change to Sydney Centre 124.55 2 nm from Camden. Specific transfer instructions will not be issued to VFR aircraft.
No taxi clearance required. Monitor Ground on 121.9MHz.
