When approaching Bankstown from the south, you should be aware of the boundary of the Holsworthy restricted area, R555. Plan to use a line feature, such as the railway line, to avoid penetrating it.
Identify Appin township and be aware of possible circuit traffic at Wedderburn ALA to its north.
Danger area D593 at nearby Wilton is used for parachuting and should be avoided. Check its activity status on Sydney Centre 124.55 or 125.8.
Freq: 124.55, 122.55

Wedderburn ALA is home to a large number of light aircraft so always keep a good lookout when close by, and monitor the CTAF on 122.55. It is particularly busy at weekends.
Do not cut the corner at Appin, Campbelltown or Liverpool (further north) and use positive geographical markers to determine when to turn. This will help you to avoid penetrating the corner of the restricted area.

Track northbound following the Appin to Campbelltown road. Be aware that Camden, a very busy Sydney basin training aerodrome, is located only a few miles to the west of this track, so keep a good lookout for inbound and outbound aircraft. Camden aerodrome is located in a class D control zone (Tower frequency 120.1).
From Campbelltown, track directly over the urban area, remaining west of the railway line, to avoid penetrating R555. Take the effects of wind into consideration.
Obtain the Bankstown ATIS on 120.9 or 416 on the NDB well before reaching 2RN. Tune to 2RN (576) on your automatic direction finder (ADF) to assist your visual navigation.
The radio mast at 2RN may be difficult to see, particularly in marginal weather and haze, so keep a good lookout. It may be easier to see the M7/M5 interchange, immediately south of the 2RN radio mast.
2RN is a VFR approach point for Bankstown and you can expect to see other aircraft in this area. If at all unsure of your position, request assistance from Sydney Centre on 124.55 or 125.8.
Contact BK Tower on 132.8 for clearance at 2RN (not at a helicopter check point). BK Tower will confirm tracking details and provide circuit entry instructions.
Track inbound via Choppers South. Expect to overfly the runway complex at 500ft until established north-east of the aerodrome. Expect to join downwind for the designated helicopter landing site.
