ATC will give inbound aircraft to Palm Island the waypoints of West Point then White Rock, which keep aircraft away from this restricted area. Outbound from Palm Island, you will be cleared via Toomulla onto the Rollingstone VFR Route which keeps you clear of R747.

Inbound to Townsville, you will usually be cleared south-west out of Palm Island, west of Rattlesnake Island, Mouth Bohle River and in to the circuit to join a left base, typically, for RWY 07.
If there is traffic conflict inbound to Palm Island, ATC may request you remain west of Havannah Island enroute to Rattlesnake to create the separation.
