Be mindful that IFR aircraft track into Jandakot via the Canning Bridge to the north and may conflict with traffic to Yangebup.
Departing to the south, track via Yangebup Lake and Lake Thomson.
If departing on Runway 24R when a northerly wind is blowing, be careful not to drift towards the upwind leg of the adjacent Runway 24L (circuit runway).
If departing on Runway 06L, make a left-hand turn and follow the railway line to the south-west to remain clear of any traffic that might be ahead of you on the base leg. Once you are past the junction of the railway line and Kwinana Freeway, track to Lake Yangebup.
Note that Lake Yangebup is a round lake which has perennial water. Lake Thompson (dry) is visible to the south.
Track via the eastern shoreline of the cluster of lakes to comply with noise abatement requirements and maintain the departure altitude of 1000ft. Be alert for aircraft arriving at Jandakot via Adventure World.
The Chimneys (marked on your VTC) is a useful landmark to assist you in identifying the end of the 2500ft CTA step. These areas are both safety and noise-sensitive areas.
The controlled airspace steps extend south to Casuarina Prison, through 2000ft, 2500ft and 3500ft. The prison marks the end of these overlying CTA steps. Once south of the prison, you can continue with further climb, noting that D104C (Jandakot training area) extends up to 6000ft. Keep a good lookout as you fly through this area as there is the potential for many aircraft to be operating around here.
Restricted area R162 begins just north of the prison and has a lower limit of 6000ft, so you will need to remain at or below this altitude when it is active. Clearance to transit R162 may be available above 6000ft. Contact Pearce Centre 123.3 with this request.
