Review Military Restricted Areas elsewhere in this program for advice on how to avoid the restricted areas in the region to the west and south of Townsville.
If RWY 01 is in operation, you will be directed to track outbound to the west via Thornton North VFR Route. Look for the prominent Mt Bohle quarry to head for en route to Mt Black.
The quarry and Mt Black will help your navigation as you depart the zone.

ATC will issue you with a requirement to stay visually clear of whatever restricted airspace beyond this point is active, whether you are OCTA or not. This could include any or all of R736, R739, R750, R751 and R752. ATC requires you to accurately read back all itemised restricted areas.
Proceed to Thornton Gap.

Once past Thornton Gap, navigate outbound through the VFR corridor by following the railway line, not the road.
As the corridor widens, keep the railway line on your right and the prominent Hervey Range Development Road on your left. This will keep you centred in the corridor as you track west.
The restricted airspace in this corridor only applies from 7000ft and above, although there is often active restricted airspace either side of the corridor which extends upward from the surface. By maintaining less than 7000ft AMSL, and remaining within the VFR corridor, you will remain clear of any active airspace. Once clear of controlled airspace monitor Townsville Approach on 126.8 out to 36DME TL.
No taxi clearance required. Monitor Ground on 121.8MHz.
