Southbound, you will usually be cleared to track outbound to Point Cartwright and down the coast.
Point Cartwright is easily identified by the lighthouse and marina.
The most common (and dangerous) mistake pilots make when cleared southbound over water, or transiting over water from Noosa, is cutting the corner at Point Cartwright.
To avoid potential conflict with inbound traffic over land, you must remain outside the coastline, over water, as you round the point, and remain at least one mile east of the coastline as you continue tracking southbound.
The control zone boundary is 8nm south of the aerodrome. If your destination is Brisbane or beyond, track as required, monitoring appropriate CTAF frequencies when in the vicinity.
