Hugh River Bridge is where the Stuart Highway crosses the Hugh River, which is usually dry along this stretch. The highway is the only sealed road leading into Alice from this direction.
VFR Route 6 diverges from the Stuart Highway for a few miles at around 39DME Alice, passes overhead a few small gravel pits, then converges with the highway again at about 29DME. Follow the road over some slightly elevated ground towards the checkpoint of the Jail Water Tower.
The Gaol Water Tower is located on the north-eastern corner of an easily identified large prison, Alice Springs Correctional Centre, on the western side of the Stuart Highway.

You might spot the numerous associated buildings of the correctional centre before you see the actual gaol water tower. Be careful not to confuse the correctional centre with the buildings of the Brewer Industrial Estate, a few miles to the east of the highway, closer to the north-south railway line.
Unless otherwise instructed by ATC, do not keep following the highway from here.
