Obtain your clearance from Alice Tower on 118.3 and depart Alice Springs as per ATC instructions.
VFR Route 4 outbound begins its life as VFR Route 5. After departure, your track southbound uses the excellent line feature of the Old South Road (unsealed but prominent) and the adjacent disused railway line to help your visual navigation.
Remain east of the road and follow the route as shown on your VTC. Just past the 10nm CTR step, look out for the checkpoint of Ewaninga on the other (western) side of the road.

Ewaninga is a disused railhead comprising a cluster of little shacks and an old fettlers’ shed.
Continue southbound to the turning point of Mount Ooraminna, a small knob shaped rock formation on the south-west corner of this compact cluster of hills, lying just to the east of the Old South Road.

Turn left at Mount Ooraminna and follow VFR Route 4, tracking 093 degrees out to Santa Teresa.

Santa Teresa is an Aboriginal community with a prominent airstrip to its north-east and some low hills to the east. Once clear of controlled airspace, monitor Melbourne Centre on 119.8.
