Alt: As cleared by ATC
Tracking north from Cambridge takes you over high terrain, so if the weather is marginal, avoid this route. Be careful of jet traffic arriving and departing to the north-west from Melbourne via Devonport, and from the north from Sydney via St Helens.
If you are confident of being able to maintain terrain clearance along your entire route, and wish to track towards the north-west, a suggested route is through the Midlands following the highway.
Be aware that the RWY 12 ILS approach is above the rifle range restricted area R380.
The rifle range is activated by NOTAM, surface to 2500ft, south-east of Mangalore.
Alt: OCTA Not above 3500ft
To remain OCTA keep at or below 3500ft in this area. The Midland Highway continues to provide a great line feature as you track north-west but be aware of rising terrain further along your route. Monitor Melbourne Centre 125.55.
No taxi clearance required. Monitor Ground on 121.7MHz.
