Coming in from the east, Mt Cotton is a good visual aid and lies on the Brisbane CLL 2000ft step. If you are coming up from the Gold Coast, the prominent M1 (formerly Pacific Highway) is a great line feature to identify to lead you to the VFR approach point of Target.
Target can be quite difficult to see due to urban sprawl so look out for the big IKEA building about 2nm to the south, which is easier to spot from the air than Target. Keep a good lookout for outbound traffic to the north at 1000ft.
